Cambridge Adventure

Weekends offer us a much needed opportunity for adventure. Although we both try and keep active during the week we are restricted by a 9 - 5.30 job so venturing far from Ipswich is limited. With a free Sunday ahead of us we decided to road trip it to Cambridge with some friends. As we set off from Ipswich the weather was glorious - I had high hopes of being able to meander around Cambridge, exploring the sights, enjoying the autumnal sunshine and to participate in some retail therapy.

It takes approximately one hour to reach Cambridge and the closer we got the bigger the rain clouds got! From disembarking from the car we were quick to realise that the weather was not in our favour and retreated to a coffee shop to re-think our plan of action.

We decided to try and embrace the rain and visited pound land to purchase cheap umbrellas! For reference - they are not the best quality for £1 and several of them ended up quickly in the bin! They kept some of the drizzle off however allowing us to enjoy some of the autumnal views from the park adjoining the two shopping areas.

We couldn't stay out for long though and concentrated on hiding away in the Grande Arcade Shopping Centre. Lucky enough for me we got to go birthday present shopping for me! Yippee! Although I do have to wait several weeks still to be able to enjoy my gift. The shopping in Cambridge is fantastic though - and definitely worth the trip. The only downside is that the shopping areas are relatively split up so on a rainy day you are likely to get a bit soggy!

It was a shame the weather prevented us from exploring further as I love how quaint the houses and cobbled roads are. So many nooks to investigate and explore. I am lucky enough however to be taking part in the Cambridge half marathon again in March 2017 and hope that the weather is more in my favour so I can explore a little further.

Despite the weather we thoroughly enjoyed our day out catching up with our friends drinking coffee and shopping.
