RFYL Drinkies and Curry
Since joining Run For Your Life just over a year ago I have made some amazing friends. Not only do I get their great company out on the road, but we also have regular social events. Tonight a fellow runner arranged for 20 of us to go out for early Christmas cocktails and curry. One of the funniest thing is seeing people out of their running gear! The majority of people I only recognise in their lycra, trainers and funny hats! People say the same to me - I normally run with a big headband so I think people forget I have hair!
We started off at the Cosy Club - a new bar in town. Ipswich has recently had a bit of a revamp and several new places to eat and drink have popped up. The Cosy Club is quite quirky - full of old paintings, hanging lights and funky furniture. We arrived just before 7pm on a Friday night - just in time for their cocktail deal. Two cocktails for £9.50! It did however take a long time to get served - which is a shame as it let the place down slightly. Hopefully they will assess the staffing levels in the future as the place has great potential.
After we few social drinks we headed over to a local Indian called the Zaika -We go to this Indian as they have a private room upstairs that seats around 22 people. This is perfect as we all get to be in a room together and also do not disrupt the other diners.
We split into two tables - I was lucky enough to end up sitting with some of my closest running buddies. This meant we had loads to talk about - both running and socially. I have to admit we do talk allot about running - but we do all have other interests too. I got some brilliant tips for our forthcoming trip to the Lake District. Looking forward to visiting the old school cinema in Ambleside in a few weeks.
The food was amazing - and as always I ordered way too much. I had my favourite Chicken Dopiaza and Sagaloo. My eyes were much bigger than my belly. Would highly recommend anyone to visit the Zaika - the staff are really friendly and its a great atmosphere.
