Saints or Sinners
The only reasonable thing to do the night before having a big New Years Eve party is to go out boozing! A few of the Run For Your Life crew decided it would be fun to pay a visit to St Peters by the Waterfront Church as they were hosting a beer festival. They often run such events, but I have never ventured to one before. The link should take you to the whats on page where they will hopefully post future events.
The cost to get in, the beer token and a glass came to £15.00. It covered roughly two pints of beer. The beer glass was pretty cool and had the words 'Saints or Sinners' on it. I had specifically been told not to bring another beer glass home, but we all knew I would end up bringing one home. We may need to throw some of the older glasses out now though as the cupboards will be bursting!
The venue was huge and plenty of room for people to move around easily. It was nice as many beer festivals are over crowded. This one was perfect in size - great atmosphere and really well set out. It also catered for everyone. At some beer festivals there is only beer - hence the name, but here they had a wine stall and a gin stand. This made the whole event really versatile for everyone.
The selection of beer was vast and lots to pick from. I tried a pint of Oblivion, but I didn't intend to get obliterated tonight - especially with a fun weekend ahead. The bar was easy to get to and the beers were all numbered for ease and co-incided with a booklet describing the background to each brew. A serious beer drinker would have loved working their way through the selection.
I did then migrate onto gin - which was served in what we believe to be a oversized wine glass. They had again a great selection of gins - including grapefruit and elderflower. I did even text the hubby to see if I could twist his arm to come down for a few gins! It would have been his idea of heaven.
I really enjoyed my first Saints beer festival experience and it certainly ended my working week with a bang! A jolly good experience - great venue - great music - great drinks and great company. Looking forward to the next event they run as I will certainly be attending.
