Wibble Wobble Wibble Wobble

Don't panic - this is not a post about how I am feeling trying to grow a human! But yes a running post! Back in May I was dubious as to whether there would be many more of these type of posts in 2017, but surprise surprise I have not quite hung up my trainers yet! Yes, I am slower, but still as determined as ever to keep enjoying as many of my hobbies as I can over the next few months!

Friday the 4th of August 2017 saw my first attempt at the Wibbly Wobbly Log Jog hosted by the Brandon Fern Hoppers in Thetford Forest! Absolutely loved the name of the race and I hoped that the experience would be just as unique. It was my first race in a while and at 15 weeks pregnant I was certainly nervous over how it would go! The race was in the evening so all day I was pondering nervously about all sorts of things!

How slow was I going to have to go? How stupid was I for giving it a go? What about the tree roots? Would I be able to avoid any trip hazards? Would I be last? Would I have to stop? So many concerns I did wonder whether I should even go! But with some amazing running buddies in tow they reassured me that it would be fine as long as I took my time and stopped if I didn't feel 100%!

The smile above was relief - relief of seeing the finish line! It certainly wasn't easy, but then I never really expected it to be. Even without a bump the motion of running is certainly more uncomfortable than normal!

The course however was a welcomed distraction! I was in my element!

  • Tracks and Trails Everywhere

  • Meandering Through Paths

  • Wibbling and Wobbling Up and Down Dips

  • Deep Dips and Rises to Challenge the Legs

  • Logs to Jump Over

  • Sun Beaming Through the Trees

  • Off roading and Uneven Terrain

The only thing I was missing was a little bit of mud! Although reflecting on the list above missing mud probably helped me survive the course in one piece. It certainly is a course where you need to be awake and alert!

I took the route slowly and threw in a couple of quick walks on the way! Having no pressure to get a PB is a novelty and was lovely to meet some new people on the way round. Despite taking it easy it was still a relief not to come last!

Have attached a link to the route, but think I would struggle to follow it again without the directions out on the course!

Next year I will be back for sure! This route was such fun and I am excited about giving it a serious go with some speedy legs in tow!
